The Keeneland September yearling sale proves to be a big sale as Bluewater Sales sells the highest priced GONE WEST and RED RANSOM fillies of 2001.

Hip #260
, a Gone West filly out of November Snow was purchased by John Ferguson, agent, for $600,000.

Hip #89, a Red Ransom filly out of Call Me Fleet was purchased by Skymarc Farm and Castlemartin Stud for $400,000.


Bluewater Sales' Indian Charlie Colt Brings $280,000 at Saratoga 2001

Hip #114, Tribal Dance, a colt by Indian Charlie out of Jocey's Dance, brought a final bid of $280,000 at Wednesday night's session of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga 2001 yearling sale in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The highest-priced Indian Charlie yearling sold at auction to-date in 2001 was purchased by Rick Pitino.

Bluewater Sales thus furthered its reputation of fetching top auction prices for offspring of freshmen sires.


Bluewater Sells Top Filly in Thursday Session at Fasig-Tipton July 2001

A chestnut filly by Gulch out of Knoosh (by Storm Bird), Hip #287, was purchased for $300,000 by Tim McMurry of Darby Dan Bloodstock and was the top-selling filly in Fasig-Tipton's Thursday session. "She is exactly what we're looking for.." McMurray said (BloodHorse.com). Overall, Bluewater Sales sold two of the top twenty yearlings in Fasig's July 2001 sale, and ranked as the fifth leading consignor by gross, selling eleven yearlings for a total of $1,124,000.

November 2000 Keeneland Sale Proves To Be Another
Success for Bluewater

Bluewater Sales continued it's successful streak in the year 2000 at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. Grossing $2,953,200, Bluewater's top-seller was Hip #493, the '97 ch. mare EAST CAPE by
Mr. Prospector out of West Turn in foal to Forestry. The mare sold for $450,000 to The Thoroughbred Corporation.

Bluewater continued to catch the attention of buyers and sellers alike selling the highest-priced weanlings by these renowned sires

  • Arch (Hip #1325- $82,000)
  • Cherokee Run (Hip #1222- $250,000)
  • Deputy Commander (Hip #975- $170,000)
  • Unbridled's Song (Hip #1265- $305,000)
  • Wild Again (Hip #503- $275,000).


Bluewater Sales Among Top-20 Consignors
at Keeneland September 2000 Sale

Bluewater Sales' Hip #270, a chestnut colt by Dixieland Band out of Call Me Fleet, sold for $1.15 million to Eugene Melnyk, the highest-priced Dixieland Band yearling at the Keeneland 2000 September Yearling Sale.

In addition to the Dixieland Band colt, Bluewater yearlings selling for $100,000 or more included offspring by sires Diesis (GB), Spinning World, Marquetry (3), Cure the Blues and Afternoon Deelites.

Selling 87 yearlings for a total of $4,167,900 placed Bluewater Sales as 16th leading consignor by gross.

Bluewater Sales ended the evening ranked 2nd in gross sales and 2nd in average of the top consignors, selling two yearlings for a gross of $1,600,000 and averaging $800,000.
