Pirate's Trove Takes $100,000 Etobicoke Stakes
Tuesday, September 2, 2014
Pirate's Trove extended her undefeated streak to three in a row over the weekend with a confident score in the $100,000 Etobicoke Stakes at Woodbine Race Course.
The filly, who just weeks ago also won the $125,000 Dutchess Stakes at the Ontario-based track, was the post time favorite going into the gate for the Etobicoke and dominated the race, running off of the pace before making her move turning for home to win easily by 4-1/2 lengths.
Bred by WinStar Farm, LLC and M R Capital, the filly is by Champion Speightstown and is out of the Alydeed mare Authenic Deed, who is also the dam of multiple stakes winner Authenticat.
Pirate's Trove was originally sold as a yearling by James Keogh for $110,000 to Cobra Farm at the Keeneland September Sale in 2012. She was sent to Eisaman Equine for breaking and prepping for the two-year-old sales, but she RNA-ed at the Fasig Tipton May Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training and was sent to the track to start her racing career with trainer Mike Stidham.
After her debut win in the Cobra silks, she caught the eye of Al Shahania Stud. Bluewater Sales helped to broker a deal that sold her to the Qatar-based operation and the new owners decided to keep her with Stidham, which has also kept her on the winning path.
Pirate's Trove raised her undefeated record to three wins in three starts, which sets her earnings at $146,628.
