Fab Five Represent Bluewater at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga
Friday, August 6, 2021

Bluewater Sales has five outstanding colts on offer at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale on Monday and Tuesday evening, starting with Hip 3 and ending with 185.

The first in the pavilion is Hip 3 a colt from the first crop of Bolt d’Oro, who saw an update in June when Tarquinia’s first foal broke her maiden on debut. That filly, Shesawildjoker, may add blacktype to her name the day before her half-brother goes through the ring when she runs in the G2 Adirondack Stakes.

Tarquinia’s dam is the Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Luna Vega, who is also the daughter of multiple stakes winner Donnavega. Donnavega also produced multiple stakes winner Athenavega and the dam of stakes-placed Normandy Crossing.

It’s been a month of updates for Hip 57 when his half-brother Blitz to Win added updated earnings to his record on July 10 at Belmont Park. That gelding is the first to race out of an unraced full sister to stakes-placed Spritz and three-quarter sister to champion Judy the Beauty. Out of stakes winner Holy Blitz, Spritz was only 1 ¼ lengths away from winning the Hatoof S. in July.

This family has proven to be one that produces plenty of blacktype with Holy Blitz also the third dam of stakes placed Sanjuanera. In addition to champion Judy the Beauty, Grade 1 winner In The Gold is among the 20 stakes performers on the American Pharoah colt’s page.

Hip 108 is another who saw updates from close family members under both his first and second dams.

The Into Mischief grandson of Maryfield is a half-brother to Rude Awaking, who recently finished third at Churchill Downs. Meanwhile his dam’s half-sister Hallawallah not only won after the catalog was released but nearly gave Maryfield another blacktype earner when fourth in the G2 Princess Rooney Invitational S. on July 3.

Into Mischief has already proven to be hitting with Medaglia d’Oro daughters. Three of his five runners out of those mares are winners, led by multiple stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Into Mystic. Another top performer on the cross is G3 Sanford S. winner Wit, who is out of a Medaglia daughter and by Into Mischief’s son Practical Joke.

Grade 1 winner Next Shares is just one of nine different stakes performers under the first two dams of Hip 113. A half-brother to stakes-placed Miss Boom Boom, the colt by Uncle Mo has four winning siblings from his dam’s five runners. Heat Street herself was unraced but is a half-sister to stakes winner Dash of Humor and stakes-placed Two Dot Slew.

Both those mares have produced stakes winners in the form of stakes winner Lil Bit o’ Fun for Dash of Humor and Grade 1 winner Next Shares and multiple stakes winner Angelica Zapata for Two Dot Slew. Another half-sister is also the dam of a stakes placed runner and the granddam of one as well.

Everyone knows Uncle Mo can get you a runner but he’s also quickly proving that he can get you a sire as well with his first sons to have runners last year including Laoban, Nyquist, and Outwork.

Rounding out the group is Hip 185 on Tuesday night, a colt by promising young stallion City of Light. The colt is out of the stakes-placed Sca Doodle, whose daughter Assertive Style won an Allowance by an impressive 5 ¼ lengths on July 30 with the third place runner over 10 lengths back. Sca Doodle is also the dam of Disobedient, an Into Mischief filly who won half her starts.

Sca Doodle is far from the only talented producer in her family. Her dam’s half-sister Life Happened – yes, that Life Happened – is the dam of two-time champion and international superstar Tepin, who not only won Grade 1s in Canada and the United States but also at Royal Ascot. Life Happened also produced multiple Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Vyjack and Grade 2-placed Prime Cut. Life Happened is also a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Disco Rico, who proved to be a strong regional sire in his own right.
