Bluewater Sales named “DRF Consignor of the Week”
Thursday, December 5, 2013
The Daily Racing Form's "Breeding Today" publication recently named Bluewater Sales their Consignor of the Week following Flat Out's thrilling victory in the Grade 1 Cigar Mile Nov. 30 at Aqueduct

Bluewater consigned and sold Flat Out to Art and Stephanie Preston’s Oxbow Racing for $85,000 as Hip No. 283 at the 2007 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July sale of selected yearlings.

Flat Out's impressive record includes six graded stakes scores, half of them Grade 1s, and 17 in the money stakes finishes. Overall, he has won nine of 29 starts for earnings of $3,645,383.

In addition to Flat Out, notable horses to be consigned by Bluewater Sales include champion sprinter Benny the Bull, Grade 1 winners Awesome Gem, Drill, Take Charge Lady, Grace Hall, and Seventh Street, along with Canadian classic winner Wild Desert.

In November, Bluewater was the consignor of Grade 1 winner In Lingerie, who sold in foal to European Horse of the Year and first-year sire Frankel for $2.4 million at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Mixed sale.

Meg Levy recounted to the DRF on the decision to place Flat Out in the Fasig-Tipton July sale:

“Just as now, we try to aim big, strong, forward types of horses to that sale, who are correct and meet that physical criteria. He was a good sized-individual, bigger than average, strong, (with) a lot of bone. At the time, I want to say the sale was averaging around $100,000, and we thought that was probably a good spot to put him in because he would have ended up in one of the later books at Keeneland.

“He sold well enough for who he was and what he was, but it’s just such a Cinderella story to see where he is now and how long he’s lasted. It’s a credit to his owners and his trainer (Hall of Famer Bill Mott).”
