Thursday, August 7, 2014

Meg Levy’s Bluewater Sales is having an outstanding start to the yearling consignment season, emerging as both the leading consignor by average and seller of the Day One session topper at this past week's Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Sale.

Bluewater currently ranks fourth among all North American yearling consignors by 2014 gross sales, and is closing in on $200,000,000 lifetime in overall bloodstock sales.

At Saratoga, Bluewater brought four yearlings to the ring and sold all four, for a sale-best average of $527,500. Tops in this group was Hip 81, a stunning daughter of Tapit, who sold for $1,150,000. The price not only topped the first session, but was the second highest price overall of the two-day venue. Out of Eclipse Champion and Breeders' Juvenile Fillies (G1) winner She Be Wild, the filly was purchased by the team of Alex Solis and Jason Litt.

The following day, Bluewater had another top seller, this time a colt by Awesome Again. Sent through the ring as Hip 130 and out of Zambezi Belle, the bay colt was purchased for $700,000 by Stonestreet Stables and George Bolton.

Bluewater’s gross receipts for the Select Sale were $2,110,000, ranking them fourth among all yearling consignors by total sales.
