Bluewater graduate Albiano went head-to-head with the boys and just about stole the show over the weekend in the NHK Cup-G1(JPN) at Tokyo Racecourse in Japan, finishing second to Clarity, who won the race by a length in record time.
The American-bred filly was purchased by Bluewater's Michael Levy on behalf of Mike Moreno's Southern Equine for $380,000 and was sold a year later as a two-year-old for $400,000 to current owner Katsumi Yoshida.
The second place effort comes in only her second start. In her first start the two-year-old won with ease in the Flower Cup-G3(JPN) at Nakayama.
Out of the Unbridled mare Antics, Albiano is a daughter of the late Harlan's Holiday. She was bred by Helen Alexander and Helen Groves Rev. Trust. With this most recent Grade 1 effort against colts added to her resume, she is surely one of the most sought-after broodmare prospects in the world.
