Few people grow up to turn their passion into their vocation as successfully as Meg Levy. Meg grew up riding the show circuit in South Florida, where she learned the importance of close attention to the most minor details. After graduating from college, she followed her dream by moving to Lexington, and began her career in the thoroughbred business by prepping, breaking and showing yearlings with several well-known Thoroughbred operations such as Nursery Place, 505 Farm, Tom Gentry, Finney Bloodstock and Mike Ryan Bloodstock. She spent six years at Eaton-Williams (now Eaton Sales) handling pre-vetting, sales prep, promoting, marketing and virtually all other aspects of Thoroughbred auction sales prior to venturing out on her own in 1998 to create Bluewater Sales, LLC.

She spends a great deal of time talking with clients to determine and refine their specific program goals, with the philosophy of giving straightforward advice and realistic appraisals. Meg’s experience and knowledge enable her to make accurate appraisals, read the markets, and effectively promote consigned horses. As a result, she has built a solid reputation for success in the business. Bluewater Sales continues to build on that success by focusing on smaller, more select consignments.

Meg is an active supporter of The Center for Women in Racing and the Central Kentucky Riding for Hope program. She and her husband Michael Levy are both members in such organizations as TOBA and KEEP. Michael owns Muirfield Insurance, a Lexington firm that specializes in equine coverage, covering horses such as Giacomo, recent winner of the Kentucky Derby. Meg is actively involved in the farm’s daily operations, living there with her husband and three sons.

Originally from New Jersey, Chris Knehr pursued his undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech where he first discovered his passion for horses. While attending school, he worked on a Warmblood breeding farm learning about the day to day care of horses, prepping young stock for inspections and ground training prospects for the hunter/jumper show ring.  After receiving his Business degree, he completed an internship at Overbrook Farm during the breeding season learning the ins and outs of equine production from the breeding shed to the foaling barn.  Following his internship he returned to Blacksburg, VA to work on his Master’s degree in Animal Science with an emphasis in equine genetics.  In 2004 Chris returned to Overbrook Farm where he worked one year as the nightwatch supervisor, before being promoted to Assistant Stallion Manager.  Looking to utilize his degree in equine genetics and interest in pedigree analysis, Chris joined the Bluewater team in July of 2007 to assist in pedigree and bloodstock research as well as helping with client relations.

He is a member of the KTFMC and KEEP and currently lives in Lexington, KY with his wife Erin.  In his spare time Chris enjoys rock climbing, horseback riding and outdoor activities with his wife and two dogs.
