Sarah Sis Set For Start in $1,000,000 Kentucky Oaks
Thursday, April 30, 2015

Honeybee Stakes-G3 winner Sarah Sis (Sharp Humor - Emerald Gal) is set to make a start in the $1,000,000 Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs on May 1 and according to some of the experts, she has quite a shot.

Trained by Ingrid Mason, the filly finished first or second in her first six career starts, which included runner-up efforts in the Arlington Washington-Lassie, Dixie Belle, and Martha Washington Stakes.

She finally broke through with her first stakes win in the $150,000 Honeybee Stakes-G3 with an easy length-and-a-half score.
Sold by Bluewater sales as a yearling at the Keeneland September Sale on behalf of breeder Catherine Rene White, DVM for just $10,000, She was then pinhooked and sent to the 2014 OBS Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale last June, doubling her yearling price and bringing $20,000 from current owner Joe Ragsdale. She is coming into the Oaks with $215,000 in lifetime earnings.

** UPDATE **
Sarah Sis was pulled up in the Kentucky Oaks by jockey Gary Stevens. Stevens told reporters that the filly "didn't feel right" to him. Sarah Sis was taken back to the stabling area, where she was reported to be in good order and had possibly suffered from mild heat exhaustion.
