Sarah Sis had been knocking at the door of stakes stardom in her last two starts, missing the wins in the Dixie Belle and Martha Washington Stakes by a neck and a head. That all changed on March 7 when she powered home to a length and a half win in the $150,000 Honeybee Stakes-G3 going a mile and a sixteenth on the dirt at Oaklawn Park.
Trained by Ingrid Mason for owner Joe Ragsdale, Sarah Sis earned 50 qualifying points for the Kentucky Oaks. According to Mason, her next start could come in the $400,000 Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn on April 4.
The three-year-old daughter of Sharp Humor out of the Gilded Time mare Emerald Gal was bred in Kentucky by Catherine Rene White, DVM and was a bargain at the 2013 Keeneland September Sale, selling for just $10,000.
Sarah Sis has now won half of her six lifetime starts, never finishing worse than second in her losses. Her earnings currently stand at $203,000.
