Tuesday, March 12, 2013

Bluewater Sales grad Rumor earned her first graded stakes victory with a game half-length win in the Las Flores S. (G3) over a top group of distaffers at Santa Anita on March 10 (WATCH VIDEO).

The daughter of Indian Charlie was one of the top selling fillies on Day 3 of the 2009 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, dropping the hammer at $440,000. In the Las Flores, Rumor rallied past heavy favorite Teddy’s Promise in the stretch to prevail under jockey Mike Smith, covering the 6 ½-furlongs in 1:15.44 over the Santa Anita main track. She earned a 97 Beyer for the performance.

A half-sister to Grade 1 winner Dixie Chatter, Rumor is conditioned by Dixie Chatter’s trainer, Richard Mandella, and is owned by Ramona Bass, Claiborne Farm and Adele Dilschneider. Rumor increased her earnings to $384,438 with the win, and now holds a record of six wins from 14 lifetime starts. She was bred in Kentucky by Stonerside Stable, Marula Park Stud and Dr. & Mrs. Walter Zent, and is out of the Deputy Minister mare Mini Chat.
