Bluewater Makes Waves at Keeneland November
Monday, November 16, 2015

Bluewater Sales wrapped up another successful Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale this week with sound results for clients and customers alike. Coming on the heels of the first Breeders’ Cup to ever be held at the historic track, the sale had fireworks galore, with the industry’s top buyers and names staying in town to take in the action.

The highlight of the sale was the fifth session, which Bluewater led as the top consigner by gross and by average (of consignors with two or more sold). The leading Bluewater Sales grad of the session was a $260,000 colt by Curlin out of the Tale of the Cat mare, Chaotic Cat, whose pedigree is chalk full of black type and graded stakes wins. The weanling went to Stonestreet Stables, LLC.

The top-priced horse sold by Bluewater at the November Breeding Stock Sale was a Modernstone (GB), a mare by Duke of Marmalade (IRE), who sold for $350,000 on day one of the sale. Out of the Nureyev mare Post Modern, who is a full sister to multiple Grade 1 winner Reams of Verse, the mare was purchased by J. Delahooke, agent for Bobby Flay.

Bluewater Sales sold 50 horses for a gross total of $3,795,500. The average was $79,910 and the median was $60,000, which was double the median price for the sale overall.
