Bluewater Grad notches impressive first stakes win
Sunday, June 29, 2014

Bluewater Sales graduate Majestic River notched her first stakes victory yesterday, easily besting her competition in the $77,500 Lighthouse Stakes at Monmouth Park.

An impressive seven and a quarter length winner last time out in an optional claiming event at Monmouth Park, the four-year-old daughter of A. P. Indy stopped the clock in the mile and a sixteenth event at a time of 1:45 3/5 to notch her first stakes victory.

Out of the multiple stakes-winning and graded stakes-placed mare Tempus Fugit (by Alphabet Soup), Majestic River was consigned by Bluewater Sales at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton August Sale, selling to George Bolton for $425,000. Bolton owns the filly in partnership with Barry Lipman and Natrona Racing Stable, LLC. Trained by Todd Pletcher, she was bred by Robert and Stacy Mitchell's Briland Farm.

The victory boosts her record to 7-4-1-1 and sets her earnings at $133,138.

Majestic River is the second stakes winner in as many weeks for Bolton's Bluewater purchases. Last week the juvenile filly Fashion Alert (Old Fashioned - Titan Queen, by Tiznow), who Bolton purchased from Bluewater last September at Keeneland for $125,000, won the $100,000 Asoria Stakes at Belmont Park in her career debut by an impressive 4-3/4 length margin.

In other news, one of Bluewater's July Sale offerings was represented by a sibling stakes performance yesterday. Morning Fix (First Samauri - Coffee, by El Corredor) ran third in the Grade 3 Senorita Stakes at Santa Anita and is half to Hip 132 at Fasig-Tipton July.

Fasig-Tipton October grad Mico Margarita (Run Away and Hide - Wide Range, by Mineshaft) also made waves, finishing third in the $125,000 Iowa Sprint Stakes yesterday. Owned by Kirk and Judy Robison, the four-year-old was a $25,000 purchase out of the Bluewater consignment in 2011.
