Majestic River bounded to a 2 1/4-length score Jan. 11 at Gulfstream Park in the first lifetime start for the 3-year-old filly trained by Todd Pletcher. The bay Kentucky bred was purchased by George Bolton from the Bluewater Sales consignment at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearling sale for $425,000, the highest price of the two-day auction for an A.P. Indy yearling.
Majestic River looked very professional in the one-mile maiden special weight contest, sitting in second for the better part of five furlongs, then engaging the pacesetter before pulling clear in the last-eighth-mile.
The filly, bred by Briland Farm, is out of the four-time stakes-winning Alphabet Soup mare Tempus Fugit. Bolton now owns Majestic River in partnership with Barry Lipman and Natrona Racing Stable LLC.
