Bluewater Sales graduate Bebhinn was coming off of a layoff, but was on her game and won the Blenheim Stakes at Fairyhouse on September 29.
The daughter of Street Boss, who has never finished worse than second in three lifetime starts, traveled easily through the opening fractions in the 6 furlong contest. Clear of her rivals with an eighth of a mile to go, Bebhinn was geared down nearing the wire to post an official victory margin of a half of a length.
“She traveled with such ease,” said jockey Chris Hays. “I don’t know where she’ll go but she’s very exciting.”
Out of the Hennessy mare Passion Overflow, Blenheim was born and raised at Brendan and Olive Gallagher’s Frankfort Park Stud. She was consigned by Bluewater Sales in the Fasig-Tipton November Sale in 2013. Sold for $52,000 to Margaret O’Toole, the filly was taken overseas, where she was offered at the Goffs Orby Sale the following year and purchased by current trainer, Kevin Prendergast.
The plan, according to owner Jeremy Harley, is to possibly race her once more this year before giving her the winter off, with plans to bring her back next year.
“We’re in no hurry with her,” Harley said. “Kevin thought she was a very special filly in the spring. She might not run again this year, but she’ll be a nice three-year-old sprinter next year.”
Behbinn is the first runner for Passion Overflow, who herself was a winner in England. Passion Overflow is currently in foal to Quality Road.
